OUR STORY
In September 1999 An Ounce of Prevention Inc. was founded by Agnes Compagnone a Family Practice Physician Assistant.
Ms. Compagnone had a personal passion about Osteoporosis and preventive care. She believed Health Screenings were an attractive tool to educate and increase public awareness about preventive care and osteoporosis. Unfortunately, she often saw the value of screenings minimized due to the nature of many organizations performing these services. Too often the emphasis was placed on finances and quantity and not quality, education and outcomes. From a medical perspective, she saw a need for quality and education based services, while focusing on preventive care education for both the public and medical community.
As a Physician Assistant, Ms. Compagnone was aware of the extensive preventive care and patient education training Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners go through during their schooling. She was committed to extending this level of expertise by utilizing Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as public educators for An Ounce of Prevention supported programs. (See Our Vision)
An Ounce of Prevention's first and primary initiatives were focused on osteoporosis and nutrition. In less than one year in business, the demand for more services increased and they expanded their preventive care services to cover wellness, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, women's health issues, men's health issues, primary care and more.
In just a short time An Ounce of Prevention, Inc. has established a very reputable name in the medical community, corporate world and general public. Their high level of professionalism and expertise has generated many new business relationships, referrals and repeat partner activities.
